The engagement

2.23.24 Chandler, AZ

the moment

Conner & Ashton’s engagement took place on 2.23.24 at Shula’s Prime Steakhouse in Chandler, AZ during Conner’s 2024 spring training with the Reds organization.

Ashton had NO idea that he was planning to propose this night! She thought they were going on their usual late Valentine’s Day date (as they are typically traveling to their spring training location around Valentine’s Day and never have time for this before they leave!). Hence the tank top with red hearts- Conner later told Ashton that he thought “oh no”- when she walked out wearing this outfit, because it was majorly black!

Ashton didn’t get suspicious until they arrived to the restaurant location and Conner was being super relaxed about their reservation time.

All of you who know Conner know that he’s very serious about being on time, and by the time they had arrived to the parking garage, they were on the dot on time of their “reservation”- but he said “no worries, we have 15 minutes to run late”.

Then Ashton started to run things through her mind…She paid attention to Conner getting out of the car and thought she may have seen him putting something into his pocket from the back seat- weird. Then started running through the day..Ashton’s Mom didn’t answer the phone that day- which is also weird, they always talk! But then she texted right after not answering. Ashton didn’t think anything of this until she started getting suspicious! So, at this point, she checked to see where her Mom’s location was- but it was turned off..also weird!

At this point, Ashton started to get nervous- she thought it could be happening. So as they are going inside and up the escalator to head to the elevator for the rooftop steakhouse, she actually asked Conner if something was happening, and told him “you know what”. He swore that it wasn’t.

Once they reached the elevator, he had a close call as he later told Ashton you could see his “marry me” set up from the elevator view! He threw her off by telling her to look at something in the opposite direction.

Once they finally reached the steakhouse, Ashton saw no indication of a proposal, and just a normal dinner setting! So she again went back to thinking, ok, this is just a dinner. Buuuut as they started walking, they rounded a corner and there it was!

Conner had surprised Ashton with both of their parents there fore the proposal!

Conner’s goal was to surprise Ashton for the proposal, and she definitely was!

They were lucky enough to have a group of people dining at that time happen to take a video of the actual proposal and share it with them.

It was the most beautiful night with a stunning set up all planned by Conner himself!

Where it all began..

Conner & Ashton first met in 2016 while Ashton was at Texas A&M. Conner happened to be in town and Ashton took a study break at just the right time to bump into him at a mutual friends house in her townhouse complex! After being friends for a few months, Ashton traveled to see Conner for the “first time” once her spring semester was over in May. On her next trip back in June, they started dating on June 29, 2017, and the rest is history!
